July 24, 2008San Diego (Calif.) Scripps Ranch's Tate Forcier is one of just four quarterbacks ranked in the Rivals250 not to have made his college selection yet, but the four-star prospect is pondering whether to join the ranks of the committed.
"It's one of those things where you want to get it over with, but you don't want to rush it and make a mistake," Forcier said. "I have people messaging me on MySpace and Facebook - 100 messages a day. Everybody is asking me what I am going to do with it.
"I'd like to get it over with, but at the same time I've got to be smart. When I do it, I'm going to do it and that's it. I'm not going to do it and then show up at another school to watch a game."
A planned December graduate, official visits have always been a part of Forcier's plans. But after taking unofficial visits to most of the schools on his list throughout the spring and summer he may already have enough information to make a decision and is not ruling out a summer commitment.
"That's possible, but I think I might take a few officials. It could get done within the first few weeks of the season, maybe even before," Forcier said. "I know one of my officials will definitely be Michigan. One's probably going to be a Florida one and probably Penn State."
After narrowing his list to ten in June, commitments from other quarterbacks to schools on Forcier's list has quickly eliminated several of the original ten teams.
"I've got a solid six," Forcier said. "Right now it is Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, Florida, Washington State and New Mexico."
As a junior, Forcier threw for 2,387 yards and 21 touchdowns against just five interceptions. He also completed 77 percent of his passes, earning him the title of "Most Accurate Passer" in the 2009 class. He is also ranked as the No. 5 dual-threat quarterback, the No. 17 player in the state of California and the No. 145 prospect overall.
