December 31, 2008SAN ANTONIO - Greg Timmons said something earlier this week in San Antonio that would be music to the ears of Texas offensive coordinator Greg Davis.
"I love to block," he expressed.
The four-star prospect from Aldine (Texas) Eisenhower played tight end in middle school and early on during his high school career.
"Then one day, my coach said, 'We are going to spread you out'," recalled Timmons. "That is when the pieces of the puzzle started to come together."
Timmons hauled in 41 passes for 704 yards and six touchdowns as a wide receiver his junior year.
The Longhorns offered him a scholarship, and it didn't take long for Timmons to commit.
"Texas is like the only school that accepted me for who I am," he explained. "A lot of schools will tell you how much they want you, but they really meant it. And my style fits well into their system."
Timmons is currently in the Alamo City preparing for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. He hauled in three touchdown passes during the West's scrimmage on Wednesday.
