As usual, several former Wolverines made NFL rosters when teams made cuts over Labor Day weekend to reach the 53-player limit. Others were released or signed to practice squads. Here are notes on each ...

? Safety Jamar Adams spent last season on the Seattle Seahawks' practice squad and was inked to the squad again after being cut by the Seahawks.

? Former tight end/defensive end Carson Butler was signed to the Detroit Lions' practice squad.

? Wide receiver Adrian Arrington (2005-07), in his second year in New Orleans after missing his rookie season with a toe injury, was signed to the Saints' practice squad.

"He's been so unhealthy," Saints wide receivers coach Curtis Johnson told the AP. "We've just got to see more of him and feel comfortable that he's going to be here all year. From what I saw last year in training camp, he would have been one of the guys to line up for us [during the regular season] if he was healthy. I've seen him make catches in traffic, catches down field, short catches. He has no fear."

? Rookie defensive tackle Terrance Taylor, a fourth round pick of the Indianapolis Colts, was released by the team in final cuts.

? The Arizona Cardinals released veteran linebacker Victor Hobson.

? Offensive lineman Rueben Riley and rookie cornerback Doug Dutch were among the Washington Redskins' last cuts.

? The Kansas City Chiefs released longtime New York Giants receiver Amani Toomer.

? Former offensive tackle Adam Stenavich and defensive end Tim Jamison, a rookie, made the practice squad in Houston after being cut.

? Shawn Crable, DE, New England Patriots (2004-07), was placed on injured reserve at the beginning of November. He did not play in his rookie year.

? Mike Hart, RB, Indianapolis Colts (2004-07), missed most of the fall with an ankle injury and was signed to the team's practice squad.

? Chad Henne, QB, Miami Dolphins (2004-07) is expected to be Chad Pennington's backup again in Miami. ? Jake Long, OT, Miami Dolphins (2004-07) started at left tackle as a rookie and will assume that role again this season. ? Mario Manningham, WR, New York Giants (2005-07) is hoping for a larger impact this year after struggling as a rookie. ? Morgan Trent, DB, Cincinnati Bengals (2005-08) made the team as a sixth-round draft choice and is expected to help out on special teams and as a nickel back.

And the rest ...
