Pros: Lentz, who started for three seasons at right guard, is a mauler-type with the power, agility and intensity to be a fine NFL starting guard. He has the physical and mental skills necessary to start in the NFL. He is a road-grader with the strength and aggressiveness as a drive blocker. He is a reliable, technically sound blocker who uses his hands well in confined areas, possesses very good size and works until the whistle. He is an alert, aware player that reads the blitz well and can slide and shuffle to pick it up. He also displays good use of his strong hands, showing the power to steer an opponent out of the hole. He works hard to finish his blocks with a good understanding of the position and blocking angles. He has the ability to pull and trap, displaying good footwork and technique within a limited area. Cons: He is not always quick off the ball and lacks naturally good explosion on contact with the defender. He has marginal speed, and when he reaches the second level he sometimes falls off his block or fails to get a piece of them in the open field. His lack of quickness limits him in pulling situations. Numbers:: Lentz ran his 40s in 5.38 seconds at Michigan’s pro day. He also ran the short shuttle in 4.88 and the three-cone drill in 7.98. In addition, he had a 23-inch vertical jump, a 7-foot-8 broad jump and 36 reps of 225 pounds. Skinny: He is a tough, physical guard with the development to start early in the NFL. Has the talent to be a quality power NFL guard and a fixture on the inside. He is a top-150 selection with teams like the Titans, Packers and the Bears very interested in the middle of the second day.
