Pros: On the field, he is a very instinctive, reactive and dependable defender who does a fine job of reading blocking schemes and seems to know even before the snap where the play is going. He has fine read and reaction skills and a non-stop motor. He has the ability to slip blocks easily and excellent tackling technique to finish. He has the smarts of a coach on the field and his production reflects those instincts and overall athleticism. Cons: He does not display top instincts in coverage, but does get good depth in his drops and can be a force with any receiver that comes across his zone. His speed limits him to the short zones and only the inside position in either defensive scheme. His initial quickness compensates for marginal speed, but he still is not able to make many plays at the sidelines. As a potential NFL starter, he will have to prove he can make plays outside the box to be considered more than a two-down defender. Numbers: As a junior, he posted 103 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks. At the Combine, he ran a disappointing 5.03 forty with a strong 30 reps and a 35-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot, 8-inch broad jump. Skinny: Another junior prospect who probably made a mistake to declare when he was not able to run well at the Combine. Falling prospect that goes on the second day with the talent to surprise in time after some development.
