Do you love sports? Do you like to write? Are you potentially interested in a future in journalism? The Wolverine is looking for a student intern for the 2013 year, beginning Jan. 14 and ending Dec. 31.
The Wolverine, operating since 1989-90, is a monthly sports publication, internet newsletter and daily Web site covering University of Michigan athletics, with a heavy emphasis on football, basketball, hockey and recruiting.
Our intern is responsible for contributing to all three of these entities and will be tasked with:
? Tracking down stats and writing weekly features on Michigan football commitments for TheWolverine.com ? Providing Big Ten recaps and previews for The Wolverine Now, among other duties ? Writing 1-2 features and 4-8 notes for The Wolverine magazine every month with the potential to expand to more features as the year evolves ? Attending games, shooting video and photos ? Interviewing players and coaches in all 29 varsity sports ? Other responsibilities as they arise ? (Potentially) produce, film, direct, edit and deliver monthly vignettes (mini-documentaries) about 6-10 minutes long on football recruits, former Michigan student-athletes and more.
We are looking for interested parties with writing experience (film editing experience is a plus) and flexible hours. In the past, our interns have traditionally worked 2-3 days, about 8-12 hours per week, including some time on Saturday night or Sunday morning during football season.
Please send a cover letter and at least two writing samples to Associate Editor Michael Spath at firstname.lastname@example.org by Dec. 31 to be considered.
