She just couldn't hang on any longer after I told her that for the first time in her life, Michigan wouldn't be playing in the NCAAs this year.
On the positive side of the end of the NCAA streak, I suppose we can all reflect on how remarkable it was by thinking of it in the context of some personal benchmarks. I noted Alphadriver said that for the first time since he started following U-M hockey, our team won't be in the NCAAs. He and the rest of us can also reflect on how much OLDER we are since 1990 :). My personal benchmark is that my daughter was born in June 1990, now she's 22, graduated college last May and is actually a semi-gainfully employed adult. After a childhood of being dragged to Michigan, Northwestern and other sporting events, my daughter doesn't give a whit about hockey or any other sport (though when she was in college she liked to go ice skating on the Notre Dame rink during the open skate times), but it struck me last night to realize that this is the first hockey season in her entire life that Michigan didn't make the tournament.
In fact, no player who played for us this weekend, and only 2 on the entire roster (Rohrkemper and Janecyk) were even borne the last time Michigan didn't make the NCAAs.

I don't need anymore reminders about how old I'm getting..
