Eh, I still think it should have happened a month ago. I know he apparently wasn't overly impressive in practice, but Hunwick can't have been either or they would've realized that he was not only capable of playing, but a darn fine goaltender. Sometimes guys play better than they practice, and he was strong in two of his three outings last year. When you've got two guys who can't stop a puck, you have to change something up and he was the obvious choice since he has at least shown on a couple of occasions that he's capable of playing at this level.

Also we saw with Sauer/Hogan that sometimes guys will play in front of one goalie when they won't play in front of the other. Whether there's a reason for it or not (guys wanting to see the junior given a chance over a freshman?) sometimes that's just the way it happens. And from the sound of it they played one of their better team games in front of him. It would have been worth a shot earlier in the year, particularly since neither freshman has really given Red a reason to play them either.
