Someone had a post below on this topic, but to put it in a slightly more civil manner: Obviously Anastos is not enjoying the honeymoon this season that he enjoyed last year in his first season, when folks thought he actually looked like a capable coach. What is the attitude around EL this season about his merits as a coach, and what say you? Is this season mainly reflecting that Anastos is having to deal with the results of lackluster recruiting by his predecessor in his last couple of years?

Everyone I've seen and heard is giving him a pass this year. Too many freshmen, not enough talent in the senior & junior classes (which is Comley's fault), losing your best offensive player last year to the NHL, plus they've had some injury issues this year.
I think most people are looking at year four as the make or break year - though we all expect to see improvement next year. If MSU struggles like this next year, then the fourth year could be it as far as the fans go. I do think that Mark Hollis is going to give him at least five years to see where things are.
A lot of people are comparing this season to Mason's 2nd year behind the bench at MSU. The team had a worse WCHA record in Mason's second year than first.
We do see some promise in the younger guys, and I like some of the kids he has coming in - so I would expect a positive step forward next year with really his fourth season telling us where he's at. And at times the team shows flashes of a good system, but just not any talent to fill it at the moment.
