The confidence, teamwork and energy is what we've been waiting for.
AJ Treais - Was 3 for 3 in shootouts this year, so he and Racine were instrumental in gaining 3 extra points in the standings. Speaking of AJ, he started the season centering the first line with PDG and Moffatt. Fast forward to Sr. night, and he is centering the 3rd line with two walk-ons at the wings. Why? 10 goals in his first 15 games, then 1 regulation goal in the team's last 19 games. He has done well against NMU in the past, hopefully the confidence and drive emerges again this weekend.
Defense - to me it seemed that only four D played in the 3rd period and OT on Saturday, as I don't recall seeing Serville and Szuma on the ice. Hopefully that is not the case this weekend.
Sr Night - Was Moffatt a healthy scratch so Rohrkemper could play?
Health of team - Is Clare the only injury?
Looking forward to a potential 6+ game ride in the CCHA Playoffs.
Those weren't really questions at the top!!! Moffatt was a little banged up Red told me, and so it was a decision between Rohrkemper and Sparks to see who would play. They liked Jeff because they figured Ferris would come out stronger and they wanted more of a defensive presence.
Clare is the only injury I know of.
I thought A.J. played better Saturday than he has in a long time and I'm hoping the shootout goal settles him down because he's been fighting it big time. His defensive-zone play actually hasn't been too bad, but in the offensive zone, he's been trying to take on all five guys by himself and it's led to some really poor possessions. He needs to use his linemates better, pass to them more and then attack. Ironically, he actually gave up his best scoring chance Saturday on an odd-man rush, but it was good to see him recognize that there were other guys on the ice with him.
You're correct about Szuma and Serville. I noticed that too. Don't think they saw the ice in the final 10 minutes and overtime. Now, that's not ideal, but Michigan isn't in a position of luxury right now. It has to win every game, so if they win Friday and they're leading in the third period Saturday, I bet you'll see that again.
