If I was a university president up North, I would add college hockey...much like PSU. You look at some of these small school's doing so well: Union, Quinnipiac, St. Cloud, UMass-Lowell....it's amazing to me.
Maybe this is a situation where college hockey has become so much more popular vs. the AHL, and there are not enough big programs (no South, Southeast, Southwest) schools, it just limits the pie of potential schools for players to attend. Put a team together, of good players, who stick around for 3-4 years, and you can make a real run.
Any thoughts as to why small schools are doing so well?
