When they play at Notre Dame in February, they could get humiliated. Well, more than they have been already. Would not be surprised if this team gets bounced in the first round of the CCHA.

Losing Chris Brown gutted the heart of the senior class.  Losing two top goalie commitments finally caught up to us...none of our goalies appear to be the answer (or even deserving of putting on the Michigan uniform).  We don't have anyone on offense who plays great defense like Hagelin or Madden.  And, we clearly don't have any top goal scorers like Hensick, Porter or Morrison.  The talent level is just not there despite the fact that a lot of these guys are NHL draft picks.

I'm 100% focused on peaking for the CCHA tournament..as that is our only shot.  So, that should be the goal.  We have enough time to figure this out, but it's going to take a massive turnaround.  Right now, the odds seem insurmountable, and the players don't believe in themselves anymore.

This is just so shocking...the one year that we lead the Director's Cup after Fall Sports, you'd figure hockey would help us stay on top.  Instead, we are experiencing the worst team in 30 years.

With all due respect, I don't think this team is capable of being humiliated.  If they are, they certainly don't know it.  Or they don't mind it.

Also, rock bottom kind of assumes that there will be a rise.  If you mean rock bottom, and we are lying down, passed out, with a concussion, yea, I can see that.

But I don't realistically see them improving.

After a half a season, they were gassed before the game was over.  After a half a season, they still can't figure out what to do in our zone.  After half a season, the 'most valuable d in the Jrs' still can't cover a person in our zone.  After half a season, a winger got his first goal of the season.

They may have shown some emotion in the second, but it died off.  I was actually hoping that they would get into a fight- not because I like fights, but so they actually stand up for themselves.  It's not as if we will miss anyone- right now there's not one single player that is doing so well we can not live without them.  No scorers, no defenders, no goalie.

At this point, from what I see on the ice, I think your right.  They are going to be sub .500 at the end of the year and they will most likely get bounced in the first round on the road ending their season in the second weekend of March.  They just have no fight in them at all.  They got man handled last night in their own barn and it didn't seem to bother them one little bit, they just rolled over and died.

three shots????? Now that didn't include Lynch hitting the post on a breakaway and Di Giuseppe/Guptill not even getting a shot off on a 2-on-0 but still ... three shots.

and clearly didn't want to be there, and looked flat out embarrassed. I almost feel bad at this point asking a tough question because I feel like I'm piling on, but what are you supposed to ask ...

Maybe they should have sent AJ Treais to speak for the team, talk about his contribution for the night.

Half way through the season, things can change like BG's run last March, but there is no evidence of that happening.  Put the past behind and work on winning one game at a time, but they are defeated.  Can't physically stand up to others and aren't mentally strong enough to deal with the chirping and agitation on the ice about their poor play to date.

The senior class as freshmen were one disallowed goal away from the Final Four.
The junior class as freshmen were one goal away from an NCAA title.
The sophomore class as freshmen finished 2nd in the CCHA as a #1 seed.
The current freshman class are on a team that has fallen off a cliff.  Gradual regression this season might be on the wrong side of the NCAA bubble, not near the basement of the CCHA.

11 NHL draft picks, 8 players from the NTDP with no glue to make this a team.

Can they finish above .500, or even sing The Victors once this year meaning a weekend sweep?

Sparks minus 4
Moffie minus 3
Bennett minus 3

I haven't had the nerve to look at the season stats recently to see what everyone's cumulative plus/minus is, but it must be ugly.  Consider that we've had seasons in which ever player had a positive plus/minus.

They said during the BTN broadcast it took Michigan 16 minutes to get their first shot on goal during the third period.

It would be nice if the apparent embarassment reflected in some kind of change on the ice.

Moffie has had an A on his sweater, and, in theory, should be earning that as well as the scholarship he's got.  You should be asking him the tough questions- such as- "why do YOU continue to pass so badly in our defensive zone?  someone who is as experienced and has an A on your sweater"

These guys should not be getting nurf toss kind of questions, but deep ones.  Being kind doesn't seem to work.

How about "you look embarrassed- why does this not translate into actual changes and development on the ice?"  That seems fair.

What's funny is that you've and others reported that they know something is wrong, but not what it is- yet that has not changed ANY play on the ice.  In some ways, it's regressed.

Something isn't "sticking" to them.

Just mind boggling for a team with the amount of talent they have. Oh well, the NHL starts in a little over a week.

team needed one spark....

How about their previous play, number of embarrassing performances, Merrill's return?

You know, I actually walked out of the game last night in the middle of the second.  I've left exhibition games, and due to sickness.  But never mid-period like that.  The 4th goal put me over- it was not worth going to bed late over.  Figured if the team is going to put that kind of effort in, so will I.

No qualms about missing more games, but of the remaining 5, we will miss just one.  And I can't wait to get the refund for the playoff games we've already paid for.

But they don't have the answers other than to trot out the generic responses that don't translate. I do take issue with fans, though, that think these kids deserve to be put through the ringer. That's easier said than done when you're not staring them in the face and you realize that they are 18-22, putting their heart and effort every day into wearing the winged helmet. Folks can say all they want about the fact that they are on scholarship, but contrary to popular belief, I don't think they "owe" fans or the media anything. They owe it to their teammates, their coaches and their school to work hard, and they do. If I saw someone pissing away everything, that I would call him on, but they deserve the benefit of the doubt a lot more then they get it.

I would have sat him.

I would not say through the ringer, but i don't see any reason not to ask normal or reasonable questions.

But I do have issue with thinking that 18-22 year olds are kids.  And this goes with any sport.  They are just as much adults as any of us are.  As a society, we think they are capable of fighting wars.  Plus, in school if we perform like that, prof's would try to help us, but would not give any of us a free pass in class.  If they tried that kind of play on a pro team, they would be sat very quickly.  If they don't get treated like adults, and have concequences like adults, now, when do they start?

At least now, they are getting an idea of the result of whatever is wrong.
