for 2000-13. Porter deserves to be there no doubt. Hensick ... his stats were impressive, but I'd vote Hagelin over him.

They potentially cheated on some of those players. 3 of the guys began their college careers in 1999.

Oddly enough, 2 of those were Spartans. Though, I don't think anyone is going to argue against Ryan Miller - especially considering the year he won the Hobey he made it basically impossible for another goalie to win the award.

is neither one can seem to make it or stick in the NHL. I saw just last week Porter was put on waivers by Buffalo and is not even playing right now. Hensick just seems to play in Peoria every season and leads them in scoring every year and makes the AHL all-star every year, but never gets called up to the NHL

You'll notice that all of the players on both teams "stayed" for 4 years except Ryan Miller and he stayed for 3.  I'll bet that factored into the selections.

The thing that most struck me about this team was seeing Cody Reichard as the 2d team goalie made me think how big a gap there is between Ryan Miller and everyone else who played goalie in the CCHA in this time period.  BTW I would have picked - gaack - Jeff Lerg for the second team goalie.  After all he did win an NCAA championship (the only one for the CCHA in the decade).

I don't disagree - his numbers were very caparable to Reichard's. Lerg's senior year was rough, but the team wasn't good in front of him at all.

And MSU usually has good goaltending.

But I don't think the CCHA has ever lacked in goalies.

I was tweeting about this yesterday, but Reichard is the only pick that I really disagree with. It was questionable if he was even the best goalie on MIAMI during his era. He split time for four years with Knapp and their numbers were always quite similar, with the exception of his senior year when Knapp had a .933 and Reichard had a .900. He had a .912 for his career, which, in this era isn't even good. That'd put you like 44th nationally right now.

Lerg would have been a better choice. They inflated the hell out of his save stats, but he carried a team to a title and was a solid goalie all along.

Hunwick would have been a better choice as well. He didn't play much his first two years, but still had more wins than Reichard, a better GAA (by a tick) and killed him on save percentage (something like .928 to .912).

That doesn't even take into account the guys that some of the smaller schools have had. I know there are a couple obvious ones that I'm forgetting right off-hand, but I know there were a bunch of guys in the last decade that I was a LOT more scared of than Reichard. Heck, his signature year (when they made the championship game), it was Knapp that got them to the Frozen Four.

Packer question - with the upcoming MSU-UM week, I thought we could have some fun with this between our two blogs. Maybe even more fun if by chance you guys don't get any points this weekend and it becomes a battle for last place (since we will be in last playing Penn State this weekend).

I did a Q&A thing with a Penn State blogger that seemed to work out ok. We could do something similar, or we could play on the rivalry a little bit.....

Thoughts?
