playing a solid sixty minutes of hockey and just dominating Northern to get their first home sweep of the season (that still sounds strange to be saying that at this point in the season).

I was certainly hoping after Friday nights not so good game that we would see something like this, but it was a pleasant surprise to actually see them put it together for an entire game.  No matter where Michigan goes next weekend the competition is going to be tougher, they will need a full weekend of play like they had last night, not just a period or a game.

It's going to be either Notre Dame or Western and I'm not sure which one I'd rather see Michigan play.  On the one hand Western doesn't score a lot, but Slubowski is good and he is even better at Lawson so that could be a tough series to get through.  Notre Dame pretty much dismantled Michigan just a month ago when the Wolverines traveled down to South Bend, but going back the scene of that nasty weekend could be just the motivator Michigan needs.  To add to it Michigan did score goals down there, they just gave  up a lot more than they scored, so going to South Bend with a stouter defense could lead to a different outcome.

This looks more like one of this six of one, half a dozen of the other type choices and there are places I would really rather Michigan not have to go, so no matter where they end up next weekend I'll just be looking for a solid weekend of hockey and hopefully they will find a way to Joe Louis.

I have a strange feeling that this team will carry on to the Joe.  Red has be extremely patient with this bunch this season if you ask me.  I think he is a genius and he has pushed the right buttons and has his boys peaking at the right moment.  I will tell you this the rest of the CCHA is like uh oh here come Michigan and trust me nobody wants to play Red's boys I assure you!!!!  As long as we keep getting solid goaltending then we are out of no series.  The key is the play in net.  I for one donot care who we have as long as M plays solid hockey and keeps the dumb penalty taking at bay to give Racine a shot.

Go Blue!!!!

Who would be the better matchup with all that you said about ND and last month.  Thanks and have a blessed weekend "74

Michigan was 1-3 against WMU, 0-4 vs ND and looked competitive in all the four games vs. Western, the ND games after maybe the first period of the first game, was pretty much all ND.  And we know the history of Jackson and Red, it's not a pretty one for Michigan fans.  I'll take my chances at Lawson, we can prob get more Michigan fans there as well.

I think you'll play ND.

Alaska has dominated the weekend so far, and the only way you end up in Western is if we beat Alaska. I just don't see it happening tonight.

MSU held on for the 4-3 win. Alaska scored twice in the final 2:30 to make it interesting, but they couldn't get the equalizer despite the frantic pace at the end.

so it was not going to be fun to play them in SB.  WMU will be tough but a better matchup for UM.  I actually followed the MSU game a little bit, since it was only a couple hours time difference for me, but I stopped after the pane broke...thinking MSU was going to hold on.

I was opining earlier as well that we match up better with WMU than with ND.  However, I had forgotten that this week is Spring Break at ND (3/11 - 3/17), so there would be reduced/limited student attendance at the hockey games this Friday and Saturday, which I suppose could make playing at ND less intimidating.

This may shock and surprise you, but ND always schedules its Spring Break so that the students are NOT on campus on St. Patrick's Day  :) . . . . although this year given the calendar this may not quite work out.
