in the second. Michigan killed off a penalty in the last three ish minutes of the period. Bronco's got a clean break just as their power play ended, but Racine came up with a huge save in a one on one battle with the Bronco skater.
Huge third period. Michigan needs to keep pressure on, but needs to play smart. Look for the chances, but they have a four goal lead, don't get sloppy or relax at all.

Red called a brilliant timeout after Michigan got up 4-1. Western brought it and Michigan was flat-footed. He got them back on track. Brilliant coaching move.
no way that they make JLA this year, but they just seem to be getting stronger with each game. Racine with some additional big saves in this game, but overall just a dominating game for Michigan (at least from the sounds of it, wish this one would have been on TV).
I hope they enjoy this win for the night, then put it behind them because now the lifting gets even heavier.
Funny thing is next weekend Michigan's biggest fan will be Western. Michigan is still under .500 so they are not a TUC making these losses hurtful to Western's NCAA chances. If Michigan can finish this thing off next weekend that would make them a TUC and those season wins by Western over Michigan would suddenly help them out.
It's pretty amazing that they are just two wins away from a trip to the NCAA's, but those two wins are going to be tough, but if they keep playing like this they should be in any game they play, no matter who they play.

If that's true how many empty netters did M score? They must have had at least a couple.

but wasn't continuous. They would pull the goalie for the power play's so Michigan was kept pretty busy trying to keep them from scoring.

I think we are a TUC now- with an RPI of .5029.
Western is now down to 14th, and without winning Notre Dame is up to 11th. And they just swept BG.
Regardless, I'm just as amazed as you are- this transformation since mid Feb has been amazing. Quite a bit different than 2010, where we had decent parts of the season, just so inconsistent and a major change of style with Hunwick. This is getting back to Red's style of play, it just took most of the season to find it. This is so fun to watch.
edit- we just dropped to .5028 wiht BG losing...

Ok - I believe. Your team doesn't want the streak to end.

This was a classic M playoff road win.
Gritty hard working performance from each and every player.
Very happy to see them back to playing M Hockey!

which makes this such a novelty to us. Usually they get the bye, then get a home series, that often is a sweep, rarely goes to a third game, then on to the Joe.
This year is even more different because most of us figured just a month ago that they didn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of getting to the Joe, let alone get out of the first round. Then they pulled a houdini and got a first round home series, which they swept. Then they go to Western where I thought low scoring, defensive struggle, and we have goals coming out the wazoo with a dominating performance tonight to sweep the series.
Once again they are going to the Joe, but everything resets now. Games get harder, still up against the win or go home wall, but right now, if they keep playing like this, they should be in any game they play, no matter who they play.
