Honestly, he should win both, but I'm pretty confident Riley Barber from Miami will get the rookie honors. Trouba had the most first-place votes of any player for the all-conference team so that bodes well for him for at least one of the awards.

I still think the 2/3 of the season where he was just an ok defensman will not mean top Freshman.  Some of the missed checks and bad clears did result in goals.

On the other hand, since he's leading the conference defenseman with points, how do you not vote for him?  Most people focus on the absolute bombs he lays in from the point, missing the incredible passes he's made over the season.  Not sure how that great passing has not translated into more goals...

Barber will get ROY.
Trouba Best Offensive D-man.

Interesting that Trouba was tied with two other players (Morrison, Caito) on the top all rookie team, yet neither were to be found in the all conference balloting.   Along with Nieves, it was bad that Trouba was tied by two other freshman D.

Million-dollar question, maybe literally. lol. Michigan is pretty confident he'll stick around for one more year but he's blowing up right now and Winnipeg will come after him hard. I think the chances are 50/50 he'll be back.

Well, those odds are better then I thought. It sounds like there is some hope.
