What are your thoughts regarding the upcoming season? The Gopher rouster is gutted. Many are leaving for the NHL. How will Michigan be? Any thoughts on an early favorite?

If we are optimistic, it's cautious.
We just finished our first sub .500 season is forever, missing the NCAA for the first time in 23 years. And two of the top defensemen left- Touba and Merrill. Let alone seniors that used to score a lot of goals.
On the other hand, the captain squad is strong- lots of character there, and we will have a good battle for the goaltending position. Most imortantly, the team recognized that they had chemistry problems that I bet will be addressed prior to the season this year.
Out side of the news from Cowtown, I don't think the focus has changed much from just paying attention to our players.
Past games with the Gophers and Badgers meant a very filled Yost- since we understand that your play is more like our rivalry with MSU- intense and great hockey. So it will be good to see your team at Yost.
i'll still miss the CCHA.....

Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota have to be the top three. Ohio State in the middle and Michigan State and Penn State at the bottom.I don't know enough about Wisconsin to rank them with any confidence but so far they have only lost 2 Seniors and 1 Sophomore. So after the mass turnover at Minnesota and the new coach at Ohio State, my very early vote would be:
My heart would flip 1 and 2, but it looks like Wisconsin has the easier task to build a team.

Yeah I will miss both conferences (CCHA and WCHA). Hopefully the rest of the CCHA and WCHA can make a go of it.
Your Wolverines having the first sub .500 team in a generation scares me. My guess is this will be the team to beat. Hard for me to say it, but the Badgers will most likely be decent. Not sure who they have coming back though.
The mass exodus really hurts our team. If all had stayed we would have only lost one player to graduation. Lucia is going to have to do a heck of a coaching job for us to be competitive.

I admittedly haven't kept up with MN and Wisc much this season, but I do know Minnesota has another top recruiting class coming in and I think they'll compete next season. Taylor Cammarata has absolutely owned the USHL the past two seasons and leads the league in scoring. His teammate Justin Kloos is coming in, too. Kloos is second in league scoring, probably benefiting from playing with Taylor. Gabe Guertler is another name I remember from a few years ago because IIRC Michigan had high interest in him. Minnesota's got a lot of young guns coming in who can fill the holes.
