U-M 63, UMass 13: Notes, quotes & observations
Massachusetts wasn't going to beat Michigan in Ann Arbor Saturday - that was as much a given as There were things the Wolverines wanted to polish up before traveling to South Bend to face Notre Dame, however - and there are still a few even after Saturday's 63-13 blowout.
For a time it didn't look as though the back-ups would get as much time as hoped. Quarterback Denard Robinson's 36-yard pick six cut a 21-3 Michigan lead to 21-10 in the second quarter, one of a number of sloppy plays. Fundamentals and technique are what head coach Brady Hoke preaches, but that's where the Wolverines were sloppiest in the first half, and too often the veterans.
