Reese ready to play tonight
After missing three games with a shoulder injury free safety Dominique Reese expects to play heavily tonight at Doak Campbell Stadium as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets face Florida State. Reese could have played in the Mississippi State game, but the coaches elected to give him extra time to rest and heal his shoulder.
In Reese and Cooper Taylor's absence, Rashaad Reid made the move from the corner and husky positions to free safety. Reid played well enough that the coaches were able to rest Reese.
"I hurt my shoulder early in the third quarter of the Miami game," he said. "I felt like I could have played last week, but Reid did such a good job I did not need to. I was thankful for the rest.
Going into the game tonight, Reese feels like he is at full strength.
"I feel like I am 100-percent now," Reese said. "It was hard watching them play and not being able to play. I just tried to sit on the sidelines and tell them what I see out there. I talked to Reid and told him what to look for and what I see."
Looking back at Reid's play over the last few weeks, Reese gives him high marks.
"He did as well as I thought he would do. He did pretty well. He is a player whether you put him in at corner, husky, or safety," Reese said. "I knew he would do well."
As far as who gets the start tonight, Reese is uncertain and believes the coaches will make that announcement before the game.
"I don't know if I will start, I guess we will see when the game comes," Reese said. "I have been getting a lot of reps and I am not sure who will start. I am working mainly at free safety right now."
Either way, Reese says he is confident whoever plays will be able to help pull out a win in Tallahassee.
"You never want to be hurt and watching from the sidelines," Reese said. "I came up here to play and I think Reid made all the plays I would have made and the plays he did not make, I would not have made either."
