Minnesota DE enjoys Iowa visit

Minnesota defensive end Tobi Okuyemi made his first official visit this past weekend with a trip to the University of Iowa. The 6-foot-3, 250-pound Okuyemi, who attends Wayzata High School in Plymouth, MN, drove down to Iowa City on Saturday morning prior to the Hawkeyes' night game against Michigan.

The three-star prospect's host on the official visit was starting defensive end Broderick Binns, who is also from the Twin Cities area. Along with meeting several of the current players, he also had a chance to talk with the Iowa coaches in-depth about his recruiting.

The Hawkeyes were the first team to offer a scholarship to Okuyemi back in January, but he has since added a number of others including Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt. With Iowa being his first official visit, the 2010 prospect plans to wait and see some more schools before eventually making his decision.

Last year, as a junior, Okuyemi finished with 58 tackles, 17 TFL, and 9 sacks in helping Wayzata win a state championship. This year, through six games, he has 23 tackles, 7 TFL, and 1 sack.

Rivals.com ranks Okuyemi as the No. 5 prospect in the state of Minnesota this year.
