Bruins Open Hoops against CSU Fullerton

The UCLA Bruins will open the regular season Monday night at 9:00 against the Cal State Fullerton Titans from the Big West Conference. The Titans are 1-0 after defeating Hope International on Saturday. They also defeated Cal State Los Angeles, in an exhibition game in which they had a rebounding margin of 50-34.

Fullerton is coached by Bob Burton who replaced UCLA Assistant Donny Daniels six seasons ago. During that time Burton has had considerable success with an overall record of 107-77, including a 24 win season.

This years' addition of the Titans will look a little different than the last couple of years. The big change is the departure of Big West Player of the Year, Josh Akognon, who averaged 23.9 points per game (ppg) last year and was a threat to jack it up from anywhere on the floor. Even though four other starters do return, the personality of this years' team appears to have changed significantly from run and gun to an inside oriented team.
