Commit Update: Milliner looking to compete

DeMarcus Milliner
Position: Cornerback Position Ranking: 2nd-ranked cornerback.
Commitment Date: 6/4/2009.
Recruited By: Kirby Smart.

Current Height and Weight?: "I'm at 6-foot-1, 187 pounds the last time I checked."

On his future jersey number: "I'd like No. 2 but I think it's already taken so I think I want either 5, 10 or 20."

On what he likes to do besides football: "I read a lot of sports magazines, stuff like Sports Illustrated and ESPN The Magazine. I also like to play video games every now and then when I get time."

On his difficult senior season: "We were only able to win a few games but it was an experience that really brought us all together as a team. It's not fun when you're not winning but we never turned on each other or pointed fingers and I was really proud of the way our guys all continued to work hard through the adversity."

On what he plans to study at UA: "Either human resources or communications."

On the biggest factor in his decision to go to Alabama: "It was definitely Coach Saban being the DB coach. That's just such an amazing opportunity to be able to work with a coach who has accomplished that much and is so well known as a winner. Knowing I'd be able to work with him personally every day in practice was a huge part of why I chose Alabama."

On his expectations for his freshman season: "I have a great opportunity coming in with so many of the guys in the secondary moving on. I know there will be some guys who have been around longer than me and had more of a chance to learn the defense but if I work hard and show I'm willing to compete every day, I think I have a great chance to earn my way onto the field this spring."

On his younger brother and 2011 wide receiver prospect Pat Milliner: "We joke around a lot about how he needs to come to 'Bama with me but he knows I don't expect him to do anything but make the right decision for himself. Obviously, I would love to play with my brother in college but I don't want to put any more pressure on him than he's already going to have. I think he's a really talented guy who can make big plays with the ball and whoever gets him is going to be very lucky."
