Bruins Open Pac 10 play against ASU

The UCLA Bruins (5-7, 0-0) open the Pac-10 season Thursday afternoon at 1:30 in Pauley Pavilion against the Arizona State Sun Devils (10-3, 0-0). The Herb Sendek coached Sun Devils are coming off of a sweep of the Bruins last year.

The Sun Devils have generally played well this year, but have no real signature win. They are similar to UCLA in that they have played only one legitimate road game (BYU) and lost fairly decisively, 81-68. They also have a loss on a neutral floor to Duke and a home loss to Baylor. They have proven to be a defensive oriented team, giving up only about 54 points per game (ppg). Offensively, ASU has been inconsistent but is averaging about 70 ppg with a shooting percentage of over 48 percent.
