Bulldogs punt Trojans before signing day

As was reported days ago, Fresno State entertained one of the top punters in the nation this past weekend in hopes of convincing him to stay in the valley. As luck would have it, the Bulldogs managed to receive a verbal commitment from the talented Bakersfield product who was once committed to USC, two days before signing day.

Bakersfield (Calif.) Frontier High School punter/kicker/linebacker Matt Darr is rated the No. 2 punter in the nation by Chris Sailer and with seven offers in the books, has plenty of options. Darr committed to USC in June of last year but after a coaching change with the Trojans, started to get an uneasy feeling that USC was not as interested in him as they once were. He took an unofficial visit to Fresno State on the 22nd and then an official visit this past weekend. Darr now says he is ready to be a Bulldog.
