Spring recap: secondary breakdown
Even though only one starting spot was "open," the secondary had plenty of intrigue this spring.
There were two main reasons for that.
The first being that several players were in a battle to be the first-string cornerback opposite Janoris Jenkins. Could any of the returning players step forward and grab the spot, or would an early enrollee seize control?
After four weeks of practice, we still don't have any definitive answers.
Returnees Jeremy Brown and Moses Jenkins each had his moments, but neither did enough to solidify anything. Florida head coach Urban Meyer said if the season was starting today, Brown would get the nod, but he nonetheless left the door open for Jenkins or someone else to make a push, perhaps true freshmen Jaylen Watkins or Joshua Shaw, both of whom impressed this spring.
