New beginnings for Staten

This spring is about new beginnings for Wesley Staten. The 2012 prospect has joined a new AAU program in Kingdom Hoops, based in Ankeny. He has switched high schools and is now attending Sioux City Heelan, the two time defending state champions in 3A in the state of Iowa. After committing to Iowa State before his freshman year in high school, he has opened up his recruitment once again.

"It's been really crazy since I opened things up this past week," Staten said. "Coach Sullivan does a great job of keeping me grounded, but he said he has gotten a lot of calls about me.

On the other line has been a who's who of college basketball wanting to learn more about the 6-foot-1 combo guard from Sioux City. His coach has heard from Bill Self at Kansas, Kentucky, Stanford, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Florida, and in-state schools with new coaching staffs at Iowa and Iowa State.
