Ball looks the part

Columbus (Ohio) running back Warren Ball didn't have that far to travel to get to Ohio State's underclassman camp on Thursday. The DeSales high school star made the short trip across town and plans on being back on Friday to continue to up his game.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder already looks the part when you see him working out and on Thursday had a chance to not only show off great running skills but hands that might remind fans of Brandon Saine currently or Keith Byars in the past.

"I had a great day today and it felt good coming out competing against some great kids from across the state and the country as well," Ball said. "I look forward coming back tomorrow."

Ball will be a top target within the region for the class of 2012 and quite possibly nationally. Ball's camp is not ready however to really let out much information when it comes to schools.

"I have a lot of the Big Ten, Big East, Pac 10 and SEC but we don't want to make it official, my dad, myself and coach until September 1st," Ball said.

Don't expect Ball to be much of a secret when it comes to recruiting circles and coaches from all over will spend time checking out the talented runner. How would Ball summarize his own game however for the sake of people who have not had a chance to check him out as of yet?

"I put the team first and it is all about getting the team to win," Ball said. "I would say my running style would be like Adrian Peterson or Walter Payton, who is my favorite running back of all time, a hard runner and hard to bring down. Someone who can get you five or ten yards or bust one when you need it."

Ball not only excels on the field but is a 4.0 student in the classroom. He is an all-around coach's dream when you mix every facet together. Obviously there will be a lot of people in Ball's ear to try and get him to stay home for the Buckeyes. What were his impressions of Ohio State growing up here?

"My impressions are that growing up you watch them on television and it is obviously a dream to come here and play," Ball said. "From the tradition and everything, it is just an awesome school."
