4-Star Walker high on Spartans

One of the players that Michigan State has made a top priority for the class of 2011 is offensive tackle Aundrey Walker of Glenville Academy in Cleveland, Ohio. Spartanmag.com caught up with the massive 6-foot-5, 255-pound prospect and got the latest news on his recruitment.

Walker is one of the top players in the nation at his position for the class of 2011. Rivals.com ranks him the #117 player in the nation and the #6 player in Ohio. OhioVarsity.com ranks the road-grading lineman the #6 player as well and had the following to say about him:

"Aundrey has the tools to become one of the most dominant offensive linemen to ever come out of the state. In order for him to reach his potential he will have to commit himself to learning. It may be a difficult task for a kid that has always been able to get by based purely on physical ability. Being great doesn't just happen, there is a lot of hard work put into it and we will all have to wait and see if Aundrey Walker is up to the task."

Walker had a lot of positives to say about the Michigan State program when Rico beard spoke with him at the Sound Mind/Sound Body Camp earlier this month. He echoed those statements last night.

"I have been up there several times," he stated. "I like Michigan State because it is an all-around great school and the coaches there are great. They are one of my top teams."

Walker has a long list of scholarships which includes schools from not only all over the Midwest, but the nation. As with the majority of Glenville products, Walker has indicated that he will take all 5 of his official visits before he makes his choice official.

Coach pat Narduzzi serves as the primary recruiter of Walker for Michigan State and when we asked if he keeps in regular contact with him Walker gave an emphatic, "Yes!". Coach Narduzzi has been very active at Glenville the past few years and is looking to break that pipeline which has gone from Glenville to Columbus for the last decade.

Walker went on to inform SpartanMag.com that he is working hard to prepare for his senior season. Last year the Glenville Tarblooders fell just short of winning the Ohio State Championship. With Walker returning along with fellow high-level players such as Cardale Jones, Andre Sturdivant and Shane Wynn they will certainly be formidable.

With Michigan State also actively recruiting Sturdivant, look for Mark Dantonio and his staff to host several Glenville products on an official visit this fall. Having a strong campaign on the field in 2010 can do nothing but help the Spartans chances with players like Walker and Sturdivant.
