OL/DL Clemons still high on UConn

Though he is visiting another school this week UConn has not been far from the front of Brandon Clemons' mind. The 6-foot-4, 255-pound offensive guard from Pennsylvania still has a high level of interest in the Huskies.

Clemons is a lean, strong and athletic lineman with an offer list that is impressive and still growing. South Carolina, the school Clemons has been planning to visit this week, has offered him, as have ten other schools, including Connecticut. The most recent program to put an offer on the table was Michigan State.

Despite the fact that Clemons has keeping good contact with coaches from the various schools recruiting him and doing his research he hasn't made much progress in terms of trimming his list or moving closer to a decision. In fact, he seems to be just as open as he was several months ago.

At least one thing is certain that the UConn coaches have to feel good about -- Clemons is serious about the Huskies and the school appears to be in it for the long haul.

"I actually talked to coach (Hank) Hughes Monday," Clemons told UConnReport.com this week. "I gave him a call Monday. When we talk it's just natural. He asks me how I'm doing in general and how my summers going. It's not really about football. It's about everything else.

"I love the school. I like UConn a lot. I think it's an awesome place. I'm definitely looking at them."

Clemons believes his trip to South Carolina will be his last trip of this summer. That doesn't mean it will be the last trip of the recruiting process, as he is leaving open the possibility that he might take official visits in the fall.

That possibility is actually looking pretty probable right now, as Clemons seems to be genuinely torn between the schools recruiting him, much more so than some prospects that pay lip service to schools while their minds are already made up.
