Clark ready to choose
One of the top offensive line prospects in the Midwest is ready to make his college choice. SpartanMag.com caught with 6-foot-5, 310-pound Donavon Clark of Finneytown High School in Ohio and got the details.
Clark, who is rated the #50 offensive tackle recruit in the nation by Rivals.com and a 3-star recruit, has scholarship offers from BCS programs such as Michigan State, Tennessee, Indiana, Cincinnati and USC.
Clark at one point had thought about waiting until after his senior year to make his college selection, but has now decided to make his choice this Wednesday. SpartanMag.com asked him about his decision making process.
"I just thought I was ready to commit," Clark stated. "I have all the offers that I want to get at this point. I also talked it over with my family and coaches and decided the time is right."
Though he was not tipping his hand as far as what school he selected, Donavon did inform us what the important factors are as far as his choice.
"I have established a good relationship with the coaches," he said. "Also the fact that I am hearing that I will have a chance to play early. In addition, having a nice campus."
Based on the rivals.com database, Clark had set up official visit to Cincinnati, Michigan State and Tennessee. That would seem to indicate that those three teams are at the forefront.
Clark also talked about how he will go about announcing decision. He indicated that his focus right now is on Finneytowns's upcoming opponent Northwest High School. For that reason, he plans on keeping his decision making process simple.
"I thought about having something at the school, but I will just save that until signing day. I am just going to call the coaches."
Though Clark was not tipping his hand, the Spartans are believed to be one of the finalists. Clark recently visited Michigan State and had a lot of positives things to say.
The recent move of Micajah Reynolds back to the OL for DL is an indication that the Spartans are concerned with the health of several players. Zach Hueter is out again for another year due to shoulder issues and Henry Conway is fighting a pesky neck injury.
SpartanMag.com will be sure to follow-up with Clark on Wednesday to find out what school is celebrating its newest member.
