Five-star Hood picks Mississippi State
MERIDIAN, Miss., - Five-star small forward Rodney Hood made his college decision today in front of numerous friends, family members and high school teammates at the Meridian Boys and Girls Club.
The top basketball prospect in Mississippi chose to remain instate at take his talents up the road to Mississippi State to play for head coach Rick Stansbury.
Hood chose the Bulldogs over offers from around the country including finalist Florida State and Louisville.
"I had a choice of going to some great schools and met some great people through the process," Hood said. "But the deciding factor was the coaching staff. There is no better coaching staff from top to bottom. Coach Stansbury has believed in me ever since I was in the eighth grade. It feels good to have a head coach that believes in me that much and will try to get that potential out of me."
The 6-foot-7, 180-pounder averaged 21.1 points as a junior for Meridian High School leading the Wildcats to a 25-7 record.
Hood is glad to have the decision behind him so he can focus on his senior season.
