Mullen talking 'the school up north'
Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen has not had to worry about his team's focus this week at practice.
The Bulldogs are not looking back at last week's double overtime loss to Arkansas and not looking ahead to a future postseason bowl game. Instead their sole focus this week has been preparing to square off against their instate rivals Ole Miss on the road in the Egg Bowl.
"This is an exciting week around our program, around campus and obviously around the state of Mississippi," Mullen said. "It's a rivalry week, the biggest week of the year. Our focus obviously coming off a tough loss last week, having a rivalry game allows you to refocus very quickly. I've felt our guys have done a great job refocusing throughout the week."
The Rebels offense is headed up by former Oregon transfer quarterback Jeremiah Masoli. The senior signal caller has completed 56.7-percent of his throws for 1,778 yards, 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions but might pose his biggest threat on the ground where he is averaging 4.8 yards a carry and has scored six times.
