Purifoy talks upcoming UA visit

As the 2010 season progressed, Pensacola (FL) Pine Forest athlete Louchiez Purifoy was already entertaining the idea of looking at other schools despite his commitment to Florida. The departure of Urban Meyer made it all but certain that Purifoy would begin to look seriously at other options and while the four-star playmaker remains committed to the Gators, two other SEC schools have climbed into the mix for Purifoy.

"Alabama and Auburn are really in that top group with Florida right now," Purifoy said. "I'm not changing my commitment status yet but I am definitely looking hard at Alabama and Auburn."

Purifoy, a 6-foot, 170-pound athlete who likely projects at defensive back at the next level, hosted Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban earlier this week when he made the trip to Pensacola for his in-home visit with Purifoy and his family.

"My mother and two sisters were all there and met with Coach Saban. My mother said she liked coach Saban right away and appreciated that he was focused pretty much the whole time on the campus and the academic programs. That's something that's important to me since I want to become a qualified physical therapist and really want to find a school with a strong program in that field."

As the recruiting season draws near the finish line, Purifoy remains optimistic about the Gators, saying that he believes new Florida head coach Will Muschamp can be an excellent and exciting new direction for the Florida program.

"I like what I've seen of Coach Muschamp so far. I like the fact that he's a defensive mind and actually coaches the defensive backs specifically."

Purifoy said that while he continues to learn more about Muschamp and the staff he will assemble at Florida, he plans on paying at least one visit each to Alabama and Auburn.

"Right now, I'm planning to take my official visit to Alabama and Florida in January and this weekend I'm taking my official to Auburn. I'm looking forward to really seeing these schools up close outside of football season and learning everything I can about the positives and negatives for each program." rates Purifoy, the No. 16 overall athlete prospect in the nation and the No. 116 overall prospect in the nation.
