Ifedi hoping for an A&M offer

At Texas A&M's Jan. 29 junior day, Houston Westside offensive lineman Germain Ifedi was a tough guy to miss, as he was dressed to impress in a blue Westside sweater and white button-down shirt.

Then again, when you're 6 feet, 5 inches tall and weigh 315 lbs., not too many people are going to miss you anyway.

Ifedi's size and strength helped make him one of the top offensive line recruits in the Houston area for 2012, even as Westside struggled through their 2010 season. He appears ready to put last year in the rear-view mirror and start looking ahead, including to his college search.

"I thought the trip to A&M went pretty well," he said. "I had a nice time."

Ifedi discussed the junior day itinerary, which included a tour of campus, the football facilities and discussion of the Aggie football program.

"I really enjoyed seeing all the coaches and hearing them discuss the offense. Those were the highlights for me," he said. "And the food wasn't half bad, either."

Ifedi said he was able to get some one-on-one time with members of the coaching staff as well.

"I got to talk to coach Sherman and coach Turner," he said. "It looks like they might be offering very soon. I'm excited about that."

Ifedi said that the coaching staff was finishing up their evaluations and would start making more offers in the near future.

"Basically, they were saying they want to wait a couple of weeks or so," he said.

Ifedi made the trip to College Station with two teammates, wideout Devante Gray and running back Benjamin Catalon. He said both players enjoyed the visit as well.

"They both said they had a good time. It was the first time they had been up there," he said.
