Cox wants to check out the Orange
Jeannette, Pa., athlete DemetriousCox is the kind of player who can do it all when he steps on the football field. If he were to pick Syracuse he would be playing safety.
"Syracuse came in with the offer last week. I was shocked because it did not seem like they were recruiting me very highly."
Cox, 6-foot-1, 185 pounds was caught off guard when the Syracuse offer came in, but he is also excited about it.
"It is definitely a school that I think would be good to go to. I definitely like what they have to offer up there."
Even with the offer in hand a visit to the Empire State has not yet been set up.
"I do not have any plans yet, but that is a school I will probably get a chance to go see."
With the offer being so new Cox has been unable to talk with any coaches from Syracuse on the phone, but he has talked through email.
"Their defensive coordinator [Scott Shafer] is recruiting me. I have not had a chance to give him a call or anything like that. They like me at safety."
When it comes to his play on the field he feels that his attitude gives him a leg up on others.
"I am competitive I feel that when I get on the field I can play with anybody. I just like to be aggressive and go one hundred percent at all times."
Syracuse was not the only school to offer recently as they joined three other schools.
"Eastern Michigan, Akron, and Wisconsin are the newest schools to offer,"
On the visit front Cox has been out to see a few programs so far.
"I have been to Penn State, Michigan State, and Pittsburgh so far."
Despite a solid offer list at this time a decision is not on the mind of Cox right now.
"My decision will probably be sometime after the season."
