Badgers vs. Beavers...who has the edge?

Ryan Katz

What many thought would be a great 1-0 start to the 2011 season turned into a nightmare for Beaver Nation, falling to FCS Sacramento State at home. Now Camp Randall is next on OSU's check list, versus the eighth ranked Badgers in an 11:00am CT start on ESPN. We'll find out soon enough if a different OSU team comes out versus Wisconsin.

Here are the match ups facing OSU against a solid Wisconsin team in week two:

Sean Manion - (8-12) 143 yards (13 yard rush)

Ryan Katz - (11-22) 87 yards, INT (4 rushes for 22 yards)

Russell Wilson - (10-13) 255 yards, 2 TD (2 rushes for 62 yards, TD)

Coach Riley continues to state that Ryan Katz is the starter heading into the weekend, while reports from practice have Sean Mannion taking the majority of the first team reps; whoever is under center will need to make quick decisions and be smart with the football.

Mannion looked sharp in the 2nd half, but benefitted from a potent run game and Katz seemed nervous and a tick slow on his release, all the while seeing constant pressure from the defense. A good performance from either and OSU may be able to put its recent "controversy" to rest.

Meanwhile, fifth year senior Russell Wilson had a big game in a blow-out victory over UNLV. Wilson seemed almost too comfortable in Paul Chryst's offense and after the nerves wore off he accounted for 63.5% of the offensive production.

Advantage: Wisconsin - Hopes were Ryan Katz would have had a big day and be confident heading into Camp Randall, instead Katz, if indeed the starter will more than likely be on a short leash and share time with Mannion. Wilson's ability to run is tremendous and after last week he should be confident, he's the clear pick here.

Running backs

With Malcolm Agnew not able to go this Saturday, Jordan Jenkins and Terron Ward will more than likely get most of his touches. Jenkins showed great versatility out of the backfield in the passing game, taking four receptions for 55 yards.
