Cooper commits to Alabama

Wide receiver Amari Cooper nearly committed to the University of Alabama a month ago, but he wanted to make sure it was the best place for him.

Now, he's sure.

On Wednesday, Cooper announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide on ESPNU, choosing Alabama over Florida State and West Virginia during a press conference in his hometown of Miami.

After exploding onto the scene over the summer at various camps, Cooper has become one of the most sought-after wide receivers in the nation. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound prospect jumped into the latest Rivals 100 rankings at No. 58 in August.

Cooper becomes Alabama's 19th commitment and joins fellow Florida native Chris Black as wide receivers in the 2012 class, giving the Crimson Tide two of the top 10 wide receivers in the nation.

South Carolina athlete Casey Gladney also expects to play receiver when he gets to Tuscaloosa.
