Robinson reaches Dantonio, officially commits

Michigan State is closing in on getting its 15th verbal commitment of the 2012 recruiting class, as Sarasota Booker High School cornerback Ezra Robinson said he plans to commit to Michigan State coaches tonight.

Robinson told at 3:45 p.m. that he has made a decision and will commit to Michigan State.

But the commitment has not officially been voiced to Spartan coaches. It's not a done verbal deal at this point.

When asked if he has committed to MSU, Robinson told at 3:45 p.m.: "No net yet. I'm about to commit to them. I'm about to call Coach Barnett as soon as practice is over."

MSU defensive backs coach Harlon Barnett serves as the Spartans' primary recruiter for Robinson.

To clarify, when asked if he has told MSU coaches of his decision to make a verbal commitment, Robinson said: "No but I'm going to call them after practice."

Booker High School's practice began at 4 p.m. Robinson said he plans to make the verbal commitment phone call after practice concludes at 7:15 p.m.

Robinson (6-0, 174) had an official visit to Michigan State during the weekend of the Wisconsin game. He was scheduled to have an official visit at Georgia Tech on the weekend of Nov. 25.

He also has scholarship offers from Boston College, Duke, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Minnesota, North Carolina, N.C. State, Purdue, South Florida, Wake Forest and West Virginia.
