Aggie Football: The commits
The first wave of incoming Aggie football recruits are in for the 2012 class. The Aggies have landed two offensive players and one defensive player.
Bruce Jones, a 5'9", 175, JUCO DB from Riverside, CA (Riverside C.C.) is the first player to verbally commit to NMSU. Jones comes to NMSU with high accolades landing on the JCGridiron.com "2011 Season Watch List...The Corners".
Jones, nabbed four interceptions for 158 yards during the 2011 season. A strong presence in the Tiger secondary, Jones played ten games in 2011 and was second on the team in total tackles (31) from the secondary position.
In somewhat of a surprising move, the Aggies have landed Andrew MacDonald, 6'3", 200, JUCO QB from Newport Beach, CA (Santa Ana C.C.). MacDonald played in all ten games for the xxxx and had a passing efficiency rating of 145.92 completing 61.9% of his passes. He threw for twenty-two touchdowns and only seven interceptions during the 2011 season.
In an effort to shore-up the offensive line, the Aggies received a verbal commit from Alfred Sharp, a 6'5", 285 OT, from Council Bluffs, IA (Iowa Western C.C.). Sharp, a highly recruited OT, was planning on taking a recruiting trip to UNM but has turned down the visit and is sticking with NMSU. Sharp had three other offers on his table besides NMSU; Florida International, Memphis, Western Kentucky, and Akron. Sharp also made JCGridirons.com, "2011 Season Watch List...The O-Tackles".
CIRivals expects to release more names on verbal commits from this weekends visits as we get them.
