Edmondson is All-American MVP
Fresh off a senior season that saw him named All-Ohio, future Spartan cornerback Jermaine Edmondson was selected to play in the Offense-Defense All-American Game in Dallas Texas. SpartanMag.com caught up with Edmondson shortly after he had been made the Defensive Back's MVP of the Game while leading the West team to a 21-14 victory.
Edmondson talked about participating in the All-American Game
"The game was amazing," he stated. "I was able to play against a lot of good players and meet a lot of new people. Three years ago I would have never thought about playing in an All-American game and win the Defensive Back of the Year award all in Dallas Cowboys Stadium."
Three years ago Edmondson was not playing high school football for a powerhouse program like Canton McKinley and he was not even playing defensive back. Edmondson considered himself more of a running back and was playing his high school football out in California.
One of the unique aspects of the Offense-Defense All-American Game is that they have multiple games. In addition to the marquee contest that features the top senior football players from across the nation, they also have Youth and Junior All-American Games that feature younger players. We talked with Edmondson about that aspect.
"The little kids mad my year," Edmondson said. "It meant a lot to me to know that I am a role model to these young players. I am truly blessed and I will never forget this experience."
Next up for Edmondson is getting ready for National Signing Day and officially becoming a Michigan State Spartan. SpartanMag.com will have extensive coverage of that special day and look for blowout coverage in Spartan Magazine Signing Day Issue.
