About Miami

In what seems to be increasingly a young-man's world, coach Charlie Coles is a bit of a rarity. The Mid-American Conference's all-time leader in coaching wins turns 70 this year, and has been at Miami since the 1996-97 season (he previously coached at Central Michigan from '85 to '91), where he's posted a 353-295 mark.

Coles has been solid during his time at Miami. Only once (2000-01) have the Redhawks failed to go at least .500 in the MAC during his tenure.

Still, Coles hasn't exactly been able return Miami to the glory days of the '60s and '70s, when the school went to an NCAA Tournament every three or four years. Coles has taken Miami to the Tournament only twice (1999 and 2007), which included a trip to the Sweet 16 in 1999.
