Young hosts a visitor

Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) offensive tackle Avery Young is living the life of a blue chip recruit.

After spending a week in Orlando for the Under Armour All American game, Young returned home on Friday and immediately entered the fast paced world of recruiting.

"I just got back today, and already had a meeting with a coach," laughed Young Friday night. "It's going great though, I'm enjoying things right now."

Young was referring to Georgia offensive line coach Will Friend, and the two have developed a strong relationship.

"He really is a cool guy," said Young. "We had dinner and talked a lot, so it was fun."

Unlike other in home visits, Coach Friend had the opportunity to meet Young's mother, who also has a special connection with the Peach State.

"My mother is down from Georgia to see her grandchild, my nephew, for the first time," he said. "So she was real happy that a Georgia coach was coming, and that added to it I think."

Young turned heads at the Under Armour practices with his athleticism and potential at offensive tackle, but he took issue with a comment that an announcer made during one of the televised practices.

One of the announcers stated that Young preferred to redshirt in his first year and was looking for a school that would redshirt him.

According to the Sunshine State prospect, that couldn't be farther from the truth.

"Man, I wish I knew who said that. I'm not mad or anything, but I just don't know where that came from," said Young. "I mean, if I said that, I might as well say I don't want to play. I want to go to a school where the coach can get me ready to play. If I just can't be ready to play, then I'll redshirt. I want to be ready, but if I'm not, then I'm ok with redshirting. It isn't my plan or anything."

Young, who still maintains that his top three are Georgia, Florida, and Auburn, will now take his fifth and final official visit to a school close to home.

"I'm going to visit Miami on January 20," said Young. "It is a serious trip, and they are close to here. It is going to determine whether or not the will be up there with the other schools for me.

With only one visit left, and Signing Day approaching, some parts of the picture are becoming a little clearer, while others are still blurry.

"I don't have a leader just yet, so it is just those top three," said Young. "But I will announce on signing day in Atlanta on a television program with a couple of other guys. I can't remember the program, but I will announce there."
