Catching up with Pharaoh Brown

The Oregon Ducks signed a stellar class of 2012, and one of the headliners was Lyndhurst (Ohio) Brush star Pharaoh Brown.

Duck Sports Authority checked in with Brown following letter-of-intent day to get an update.

Oregon commits had a potential scare the week before signing day with the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers pursing head coach Chip Kelly. The trauma was far less severe for Brown than it was for Duck fans.

"Coach Osborne called me that night and told me what was going on," recalled Brown. "Then Coach Kelly called me the next day, so before I could get excited I found out everything was cool."

Watching film of the 6-foot-6, 220-pound athlete several skills stand out, including quick, soft hands and deft footwork.

"I think my legs and my speed really help out there," said Brown. "My ability to catch comes from playing basketball most all of my life and that helps also playing the tight end position."
