A new leading man
On Monday afternoon, Missouri announced that starting quarterback James Franklin would have shoulder surgery and miss the rest of spring football.
Nobody is putting an exact timetable on Franklin's return. Gary Pinkel said Franklin's injury was not serious compared to other similar injuries. He referenced New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees who had the same surgery and played four months later. Fall camp will open in four-and-a-half months and the season opener is a little more than five months away.
It seems likely Franklin will miss most or all of the summer work, the 7-on-7 sessions between the quarterbacks and receivers.
For the time being, at least through the end of spring and early summer, redshirt freshman Corbin Berkstresser takes over the role of starter.
