This was a coming of age victory for Sean Mannion and the Oregon State Beaver offense.  While the defense had been the dominating force during the first two games, against the Wildcats, it was the offense's turn to shine.

It was a career performance for Mannion who was 29-45 for 433 yards, three touchdowns and ZERO interceptions.  Perhaps most impressive, however, was his calm under pressure in leading the Beavers down the field on the final drive to clinch the victory.

Storm Woods also had a career game as well as the Wildcats had trouble stopping the Beavers run attack.  Woods rushed for 161 yards and also added four receptions and 42 yards to his total.  He ran strong and showed excellent patience and vision.

At receiver, Markus Wheaton and Brandin Cooks are proving to be a tremendous one-two punch.  Defenses have to respect their speed and both made some big grabs in the desert.

My game ball though goes to the offensive line.  The transformation that this group has gone through during the off-season has been remarkable.  Without their solid blocking, the rest of the offense would not have been successful.  This unit is coming together more each week and the accomplishments of the offense are a correlation to that hard work in the trenches.

It was great to see the offense have a break-out type game when it was needed.   In what turned into a wild shoot-out type game in the second half, the Beaver offense went toe-to-toe with the vaunted Rich Rod, no huddle spread.

This is the guy that invented the QB read option! But while the pro style offense isn't as flashy as the spread, when it works, it is almost unstoppable.  And it was humming for the most part on Saturday night.

While some of this is attributable to Arizona's young and suspect defense, Mannion and company were very sharp.
