Douglas helps Avon race into playoffs
Avon (Ohio) four-star prospect Ross Douglas was untouchable with the ball in his hands, outrunning opponents for 155 yards and two scores on only five carries (31.0 yards per carry) in a 41-7 victory over North Ridgeville to help Avon build momentum heading into the Ohio state playoffs.
Meanwhile, in Michigan, the playoffs have already commenced, and several in-state commits had standout first-round performances.

Jake Butt: Butt nabbed four passes for 78 yards (19.5 yards per reception), but Pickerington North (9-1) dropped its first game of the season in a 13-10 loss to Grove City

The Panthers open OHSAA Region 3 playoff action at home against Pickerington Central Nov. 3.
Taco Charlton: Charlton was dominant on both sides of the ball for Pickerington Central (7-2), making 13 tackles, including five tackles for loss, while catching two passes for 40 yards (20.0 yards per reception) and a touchdown in a 28-23 victory over Lincoln
The Tigers travel across town to Pickerington North for a OHSAA Region 3 first-round playoff matchup Nov. 3.
Gareon Conley: Conley piled up 106 yards and a score on three receptions (35.3 yards per reception) to help Massillon (9-1) capture its eighth straight win in a 37-29 triumph over McKinley
He also added two tackles and recovered a fumble on defense
Conley has snagged 37 balls for 822 yards (22.2 yards per receptions) and six touchdowns, and has chipped in with 18 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss and one sack, and returned an interception for a score in 2012

Chris Fox: Fox helped Ponderosa (9-0) dominate the line of scrimmage to the tune of 308 yards on 37 rush attempts (8.3 yards per carry) in a 49-7 win over Rampart
Ponderosa is at home against Sand Creek Nov. 2.
Ben Gedeon: Gedeon stockpiled 159 rushing yards and a touchdown to lead Hudson (8-2) to a 19-7 victory over North Royalton
On defense, he registered eight tackles
The four-star linebacker has piled up 88 tackles, including seven for loss and one sack, and recovered two fumbles this season
He has also scampered for 899 yards and eight touchdowns on 147 carries (6.1 yards per carry)
The Explorers are at Glen Oak in an OHSAA Division 1 first-round playoff game Nov. 3.
Khalid Hill: East English Village (8-3) defeated Marysville 63-25 in the first round of the playoffs
East English faces St. Clair in a MHSAA Division 3 second-round playoff clash Nov. 2.
Maurice Hurst Jr.: Hurst Jr. bowled his way for a two-yard touchdown on offense, and made four tackles, including one for loss, and Xaverian Brother (2-7) captured its second win of the season in a 33-31 decision over St. John's
Hurst has totaled 41 tackles, including 17 for loss and nine sacks, and forced two fumbles this season
The Hawks aim to keep their momentum going against Boston College High at home Nov. 3.
Patrick Kugler: North Allegheny (9-0) rushed for only 84 yards, but remained unblemished in a 42-0 victory over North Hills
The Grey Hounds are at home against Altoona in a Class AAAA first-round test Nov. 2.
Jourdan Lewis: Lewis helped Cass Tech (8-2) shut down Grosse Pointe South's passing game in a 37-3 playoff victory

Mike McCray: McCray set the example for Trotwood-Madison (8-2) with nine tackles, and two catches for 52 yards (26 yards per reception) and a touchdown in a 27-3 thrashing of Butler
McCray ended the regular season with 79 tackles and forced a fumble
The Rams begin their quest for a state title at Mount Healthy Nov. 2.
Henry Poggi: Gilman (7-2) was stifling defensively in a 48-12 defeat of McDonogh in the first round of the Maryland state playoffs
Gilman's second-round matchup has yet to be announced.
Wyatt Shallman: Shallman continued to thrive on defense, making five stops, including two for loss, and Catholic Central (6-4) topped Hartland 21-15
The Shamrocks hope to stave off elimination in MHSAA Division 1 playoff competition at Walled Lake Northern Nov. 2.
Deveon Smith: Smith was unstoppable for Howland (8-2) in a 58-37 shoot-out victory over Struthers, rushing for 156 and four scores
Smith has accumulated 1,597 yards on the ground and 22 touchdowns in 2012

Channing Stribling: Stribling was an iron man for Butler (10-0) in a 33-14 conquest of Independence, making five tackles, intercepting a pass, and recording five receptions for 76 yards (15.2 yards per reception)

Scott Sypniewski: Marquette (11-0) defeated Luther North 44-8 in the first round of the IHSAA Class 1A playoffs

Dymonte Thomas: Thomas was limited due to an ankle injury and Marlington (8-2) fell to Alliance 34-13 after jumping out to a 13-0 first-quarter lead
Thomas has scampered for 1,197 yards and 16 scores this season, and has added 43 tackles and intercepted a pass
The Dukes will play Poland Seminary at home in an OHSAA Division 3 first-round game.
Csont'e York: York caught three passes for 22 yards (7.3 yards per reception) in Chandler Park Academy's (5-3) season ending 14-12 loss to Gross Ile
York finished his senior campaign with 36 catches for 543 yards (15.1 yards per reception) and seven touchdowns.
Michael Ferns (2014): Ferns stopped seven ball carriers, including two in the backfield, to aid a tough St. Clairsville (10-0) defense in a 54-12 destruction of Union Local
Ferns has amassed 72 tackles, including five for loss and two sacks, this year
