Top 20 U-M recruiting stories: No. 18 Prescott Burgess

When Prescott Burgess stepped before the cameras to announce his decision to attend Michigan while at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, he made history, becoming the first recruit to ever pledge to the Wolverines on national TV.

The Recruitment

For weeks leading up to his Jan. 5 announcement, Burgess was supposedly debating between Michigan and Ohio State. The Buckeyes assumed the five-star from Warren, Ohio, would stay home and play for the Scarlet and Gray, but Burgess would later reveal he was always leaning towards the Maize and Blue.

"Everyone seemed to think I was going to Ohio State or whatever just because I'm from Ohio," he said then. "That's a great school and a great place, but I just felt more comfortable at Michigan. I just sat down one day and saw the light and knew I was headed to Ann Arbor."
