Teammates: Toussaint ready to go when camp opens Aug. 5
On Tuesday, we took a look at 10 questions we would ask at this week's Big Ten Media Days, and we follow-up today with the answers, including some good new on tailback Fitzgerald Toussaint.
1. Is Fitzgerald Toussaint 100 percent and ready to compete for the starting job when camp opens Aug. 5?
Quarterback Devin Gardner insists that Toussaint is doing just fine, even noting he lost an agility drill to the senior running back recently. Physically we expected Toussaint to be 'back' but what about mentally? His teammates are optimistic he's ready to go after suffering a brutal leg injury last November, but even they admit they won't know he's 100 percent until they put on the pads, he has to make his first real cut to avoid a defender and he gets hit, going down into a crumple on the turf. They're optimistic he'll be just fine, and they'll know soon enough.
