Tigers spread the ball in first scrimmage
Gary Pinkel has said a few times he feels his skill position players might be the best group he has had since 2007-08. Even the players understand why that statement may be met with some skepticism.
While Missouri did produce a 1,000-yard rusher last season, the offense was stuck in neutral much of the year. The Tigers averaged just 217.9 passing yards per game in 2012, their fewest since the 2001 season, Pinkel's first.
"We have a pretty big chip on our shoulder just because that was the truth," Bud Sasser said. "We were some of the weaker links on the team. Just coming out this season, we're trying to make sure that's not the case at all this year."
Consider Saturday's scrimmage a first step.
