Vicious circle at heart of NU offensive collapse

Northwestern's current five-game losing streak has taken the team from thinking about a bowl trip to Pasadena to scrambling to earn a ticket to Detroit.

Northwestern was sitting at 4-0 and No. 16 in the country when it hosted Ohio State on Oct. 5. Now, just over a month later, the Wildcats are 0-5 in the Big Ten and mired in the program's longest slide since a six-gamer in 2006, head coach Pat Fitzgerald's first year at the helm.

And at the heart of the last four weeks of the epic collapse is a vicious circle on offense that the Wildcats can't seem to escape.
